Reflect & Progress
I have put reflect and progress at the bottom of each shoot but this is for the entire project. I am happy with how everything went, there are some things I would like to do again or revisit to explore properly but getting perfection in art is difficult because you constantly add to old ideas as well as making new ones.
First off, I am happy with all of the shoots, I think that they depict the scenes I wanted too but they have a little of my own interpretation in there. I knew going into this that creating perfect visual representations would be impossible because each and every person has a different idea of how things will look when they read any book and the one I used is no exception. I think if I had tried to get them to exact same as what is written down then it would have felt like artistic to me, yes I wanted to create visuals for certain scenes but I didn't want them to be exactly the same. I took between 200-500 shots for each photoshoot so I think I explored each scene well, I planned almost all of them thoroughly before going into them and that helped with exploring scenes as well. Having said that, I did mention before that it can be hard to feel satisfied with how much you have delved into a shoot because as soon as I'd called it a day on one I would go home and come up with more ideas of pose or angle or setting but I can't keep exploring the same scene, that would get boring for me, the model and people looking at the work. I think for the next lot of work I want to have little breaks during the shoots to give me time to think of new ideas properly instead of doing what I usually do which is just go along with whatever comes to mind as I am taking pictures.
In terms of final outcome, I am quite pleased with how it turned out. It could have been better, the glue I used to stick the photos was super glue which is very runny so on some of them the glue leaked out from the user the photo and left a little shiny mark on the paper which looks a little messy but it is not too bad. I am glad I decided to go with a more simplistic look for my final piece, I like that the focus is on the photos and not on any thick chunks or text or bits of fabric. Maybe next time I can look into doing something a little more elaborate.
As a whole, I personally feel satisfied with how I carried out this coursework and how I finished it. There are things, looking back, that I would like to do differently but they are all things I can work on for the exam pieces. I learned from a lot from this unit of work; I know I need to plan any future shoots properly, not just the ones I feel are important but every single one. This will allow me to be more organised and explore themes more in depth. Background/setting and costume are very important to the overall vibe and feeling of photos, this is something I barely looked at during first year, I got better at it for this set of coursework but it is an aspect of model photography that I would like to get better at for the next part of work.
In summary, I love the photoshoots and outcomes from this and I definitely feel like I took a lot from it all. My final piece is a nice and simple but effective and relevant way to end it all and I think I did what I set out to do at the start of the year.
